For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn (Luke 2:6-7).
I hope you enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving. Can you believe it’s December?
I confess I’ve been humming carols for weeks. In truth, I hum carols year-round. Not because I want Christmas every day, but because the carols I sing tell the good news of Jesus Christ! How can I not love them?
Yesterday, I awoke with “O Come All Ye Faithful” playing on repeat. It’s one of my favorite Christmas carols because it invites us to come and worship just like that night long ago.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men (Luke 2:8-14).
Don’t you just love those scriptures? I do. Because when I read them, a joy stirs within me! A joy that goes beyond the silver and gold decorations. It isn’t found in the holly and ivy, the mistletoe, or lights. If you’re looking for it among the tree limbs, you’re looking in the wrong place. This joy is found only in the Light of the World. He is our joy. And He deserves our worship.

Let’s take a look at O Come, All Ye Faithful by John Francis Wade.
O Come, All Ye Faithful
O come, all ye faithful, joyful, and triumphant!
O come, ye, O come ye to Bethlehem!
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Refrain: O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!
Sing, choir of angels, sing in exultation
Sing, all ye citizen of heav'n above:
"Glory to God, glory in the highest!" [Refrain]
O Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus to Thee be all glory giv'n;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing! [Refrain]
Are you faithful? Joyful? Triumphant? O come, let us adore Him together!
I hope this version by Celine Dion and choir reminds you of the true reason for this season.
