Have you ever questioned if the Lord’s able to supply your need? Wonder if He understands how you feel in your present circumstance? If He’s forgotten you? Capable to see you through?
If so, you’re not alone.
The writer of Thessalonians tells us the One Who called us is Faithful.
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:24
I recently had a candid conversation with my daughter while driving. The song I’m sharing below was playing, and I said, “I never question if He’s able. I wonder if He will.”
My daughter glanced my way and replied. “And if He won’t, then tell me why, and I’ll go on about my business.”
I hope that made you laugh. It did me. She wasn’t being disrespectful, but honestly sharing her struggles. It was a rare moment. I think it even surprised her. LOL It also revealed how we differ in our thought patterns. Even as a child, she was fine as long as you told her why not.
I, on the other hand, have often asked why but never why not. Why? Because I’m too busy wondering if He will. And guess what? He did.
Ah! Remembering gives us hope.
All we have to do is look back. Like the song says, “Looking back…”
Look back, take inventory, and give thanks for the blessings.
Back to my daughter. She knows we don’t always get to know why. That’s life. And life isn’t about the why. It’s about faith. But she has to ask. That’s my Lulu.
Hope your summer is going well. If you’re like me, you are busy with chores. Enjoy the song. Take care! Blessings.
Sometimes I want to know the answer, sometimes I remember to rely on Him and remember His timing is best. 🙂
I understand those sometimes, Melissa! I’ve had a few of them this last year. And, like you said, we have to rely on God to see us through it all. Blessings on your weekend!
Gail, I love this post! This so resonates with me! He is not only able in my life, but faithful as well! I have learned a long time ago, that God has a time table and His timing is always a sure thing … we just have to wait sometimes 😉 Hugs to you and your daughter!
Thank you for that hug, Mary! Hugs to you, sweet friend.
I agree with your daughter. Many times I’d love to know why too.
I believe we all have those times. 😀
I often ask why or why not, but I’ve learned there are some answers I just don’t need to know.
😄 I can understand that! Sometimes we’re better off in the dark.
I have not heard that song before, so thank you for sharing. I love it. It can be difficult to wonder if God will come through and why He doesn’t always do so. But it is comforting to remember that He has a purpose and a plan. Even if things don’t go how we want, we can trust Him! ❤️
Yes, we can!
I never thought to ask why not. But it’s a great question. I think He knows us so well, He’s not at all offended by the “ why-not-ers.” 😊❤️
I’m with you, Betty. It is a great question. She has some pretty good ones. But I believe He’s big enough too handle them all. 😉❤
Yes, He can, and when He doesn’t it is because His plans and purposes are always greater than my finite mind. God is faithful! 🙂 Thanks for this post…helps me today. 🙂
❤ The conversation with my daughter encouraged me. It’s thrilling when we can encourage each other. So glad God created family, including my spiritual sisters and brothers. 😄
Yes, he can and does so often, I’m surprised that I still waver and question. 🙂 But when I do, I remember the scrlpture that says even when we are unfaithful, He is still is, because he cannot deny himself. 2nd Timothy 2:13
Me too, Linda! I love that scripture. It keeps me focused even when I don’t understand. ❤
I love everything about this post. I’m pretty sure that at some point in my life I’ve wondered “Will He?” and “Why wouldn’t He?” Sometimes, down the road, He clues us in to both. And sometimes He chooses to stay silent about it.
Thanks, Stephanie! You are so right. Just like we do our kids. Sometimes we explain. Sometimes we don’t. But we love them all the time. 😉
