The Lord Is My Strength

The Lord is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation. Exodus 15:2 KJV

Strength, according to Webster, is the ability to resist being moved or broken by a force.

Of course, we know we cannot resist being moved or broken by a force in our own strength. But there is a strength that keeps us spiritually steady, secure, and safe.

When we face seasons of heartache and pain, we must lean into Him, our Lord and Savior, and allow Him to become our song (praise). He is our salvation (deliverance, victory, prosperity, health).

  1. Beautiful, Gail. Love this definition, Strength, according to Webster, is the ability to resist being moved or broken by a force. And then to relate it to Lord as our strength…powerful!

  2. Thank you for sharing this, Gail. I constantly have to lean on His strength, and I constantly am trying to do it on my own, too! This is a great reminder!
I love the picture with the verse, so pretty!
    Blessings~

    • Thank you, Robbye. I told someone else that it amazes me how many times I’ve forfeited His strength only to slog about in my weakness. I think we all have times of trying to do it ourselves. I’m so glad He is merciful and forgiving. Blessings, dear friend.

      • Oh, Gail, I know what you mean. I keep thinking I would learn…but then I do the same thing all over again.
I am thankful for His mercy and forgiveness because I don’t even want to think of where I would be without it!
Blessings to you, too, sweet friend.

  3. I was thankful to have some time to stop by today, and it was such a nice surprise to win Dee Dee’s book! I completely agree that He is the “strength that keeps us spiritually steady, secure, and safe,” and what an excellent prayer! We have had some very busy weeks recently, but I have found that He has given us amazing strength to get through each thing with a peace & calmness that only come through Him. Some plans He changed, but then He even added to some. I love that He is my strength & song, and He has become my salvation! Thank you for this wonderful & inspiring message!

    • Becky, thank you for sharing. Your words always encourage me. I’m sorry you have had problems. I’m praying all will work out soon, dear friend. In the meantime, as you said, He is your strength and song. And we both know He is the one we can lean on in times of uncertainty. Thanks for commenting and congratulations on winning Dee’s book!

  4. When I am in the dark feeling helpless and alone. I remember the year, 2016, I was in a job that I despised, I hated everyone, my boss, my co-workers, every day was a struggle, I was crying myself to work, on the way home. But I was able to gather myself, I talked to God all the time, asking Him for guidance, for strength. He was there, He listened to me, He gave me freedom. Very empowering post. Thank you!
