All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name

Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name;
worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness (Psalm 29:2 KJV).

I’ve never played or sang this hymn in front of anyone, but I have heard it performed several times. So, I wasn’t too surprised when the words leaped inside my head as I watched the sunrise.

Curious, I opened my hymn book and found three different versions. Between Coronation, Miles Lane, and Diadem, my favorite is Coronation because it sounds exactly like the title. A coronation. And just the thought of that glorious coronation should stir our souls to worship.

In fact, Perronet’s lyrics are a call to worship. They are also reminders of Who and why we worship. Facts easily forgotten in a world that only sees Him as a God of love. True, He is love. But He is also King!

May we reverence Him as Lord and King!

All Hail the Power of Jesus’ name!

All hail the power of Jesus’ name!

Let angels prostrate fall.

Bring forth the royal diadem,

and crown him Lord of all.

Bring forth the royal diadem,

and crown him Lord of all!

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:6-11 KJV).

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,

ye ransomed from the fall,

Hail him who saves you by his grace,

and crown him Lord of all.

Hail him who saves you by his grace,

and crown him Lord of all!

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works (Titus 2:14 KJV).

Let every kindred, every tribe,

on this terrestrial ball,

To him all majesty ascribe,

and crown him Lord of all.

To him all majesty ascribe,

and crown him Lord of all!

And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.

And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever (Revelations 5:3-14 KJV).

O that with yonder sacred throng

we at his feet may fall!

We’ll join the everlasting song

and crown him Lord of all.

We’ll join the everlasting song

and crown him Lord of all.

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying,

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created (Revelations 4:8-11 KJV).

I Need Thee Every Hour

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28 KJV ).

Multiple songs swirled inside my head when planning this post. But as I thought about the news and social media, this song came to mind. Perhaps the words echo the prayer on your lips.

I Need Thee Every Hour

Annie Hawks wrote the poem I Need Thee Every Hour in the first-person point of view and addressed a desire to know Jesus personally. I like that because the words become my own when I read them.

Withholding nothing, she honestly shared her struggles. But she didn’t stop there. She added the answer to all hardships. Knowing Jesus intimately can make a difference in life.

Dr. Robert Lowry, pastor and hymnist added the refrain while writing the music. It is also a prayer for the Lord to draw near and comfort the petitioner.

I need Thee ev’ry hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.

Refrain:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev’ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.

I need Thee ev’ry hour,
Stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r
When Thou art nigh. [Refrain]

I need Thee ev’ry hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain. [Refrain]

I need Thee ev’ry hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill. [Refrain]

Love and Kindness

Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee (Psalm 63:3 KJV).

Good morning! I wanted to let you know the reason I’ve been missing in action. On April 6, I was hanging a curtain when I fell, fracturing my right arm and injuring my elbow. The good news is my shoulder joint is okay and I don’t need surgery. Bad news… I have 3 weeks left before I can use my arm. Until then, I’m a lefty. Did I mention I’m right-handed? 😉

The swelling is better. Thank the Lord. Prayers are appreciated! For those who connect with me on social media, thank you for all your prayers and support! Your outpouring of love and kindness helped me through the painful and sleepless first week.

And y’all are a ray of sunshine!

Blessings
