My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth (Psalm 139:15 KJV).
To create a sculpture, the designer must envision what isn’t there.
It takes hours of labor before his vision is a reality.
Great design is challenging, but the end result is magnificent.
Here’s a video sharing the journey from the quarry to the finished product. Enjoy!
Dear Lord, You are the Great Designer. You see what I cannot. You know what I do not. Only you can remove the unnecessary parts. I pray, take chisel in hand and shape me into Your image. Amen
***FYI: I’m with Gail Kittleson today! Come on by and say hi. And tomorrow, I’d love for you to drop by Inspired Prompts. I’ll be the featured author on their 3 Questions Wednesday.
Wow, love these sculptures . . . what beauty is found beneath stone. Such a biblical truth too! ❤
Hi, Ellie! I love sculptures. I agree with you about the biblical truth. So thankful for His grace and mercy. ❤
Amen to that!
That was truly astounding! What gifts and talents the Lord gives to people!
I agree, Janell. I can’t imagine doing that with a lump of rock. It truly is amazing. Thanks for commenting. 😄
Thank you for sharing, Gail! Having a vision of what is to be created out of just a piece of rock, and the painstakingly detailed work is really amazing to watch! And then relating it to how only God knows how to shape & mold us, knowing what are the unnecessary parts of us to remove & what is necessary really speaks to my heart. Sometimes it is such a painful process, and I have to trust that He has a perfect vision & works perfectly out of His great love for me. Sometimes I just stand in awe of what He is doing & how He takes me to a greater, deeper trust in Him! Yes – Amazing!!
I completely agree with you, Becky. Amazing!
I am amazed at sculptures. I have enjoyed viewing different pieces since I was a little girl. These photos are amazing! Thanks for sharing with us. 🙂
I’m with you, Mimi. Thanks for visiting! ❤
And we know that is what God is doing to us. Removing anything that does not look like him. Sometimes it hurts!
Yes, Linda! It does hurt. It helps when I focus on the purpose. Focusing doesn’t make it any less painful, but it helps me to understand it’s for a reason, and that He knows what He’s doing. 😀
Yes!
Inspiring video!
Thanks, Carole. One cannot help but think of the Master. 😀
Wonderful! I love sculpture, especially from the Baroque and Renaissance periods. The sculptor, Bernini, is my favorite, followed by Canova. I enjoyed looking at these beautiful photos and video. 🙂
Thank you, Dot. It’s so amazing how they smooth the marble without causing damage to their work. 😄
Yes, and the patience it takes! Also, watching the video, the man has one of those drill things to drill through the marble, which is a great help! Just think in the days when they didn’t have that! The hard work that took!
Yes!
AMAZING!!
I agree, Joydesignsyourdreams. The process is laborious. But the result…wow.
